People are sometimes surprised to discover that there is a real life Rachel behind Britain’s best loved organic dairy brand - but a real life Rachel there is! An even lesser known fact is that the story behind Rachel’s begins not with Rachel, but with her mother, Dinah and grandmother, Bessie, who pioneered organics long before it became fashionable (or even acceptable) to do so.
Here at Rachel’s we are very excited that the pioneering story of these incredible women is finally going to be told in a special anniversary book .
The book, ‘They Dared to be Different’ by Teleri Bevan, is a truly inspiring read, describing all the trials and tribulations of the three generations of exceptional farming women behind our delicious products. At times it reads like a David and Goliath story, as Bessie, Dinah and Rachel in turn each defy prevailing attitudes and hardships to overcome seemingly insuperable barriers.
